The Problem
How to create a fundraiser video that gets people to REALLY give some money.St. Paul’s Academy had taken on an ambitious goal – build an upper school at the cost of some $4 million. Fundraisers had always been good places for parent/family giving, but never to the tune of the amount they needed to raise now.
St. Paul’s Academy came to Hand Crank looking for a film that would truly inspire the family members of the school, and the local community, to give big sums of money. To do that, they knew they needed emotional attachment from the parents to the film.
The Solution
We realized that what was usually missing in the school fundraiser videos was – the kids! They also were what was missing from the auction night, as well. We thought it if we could pull the children’s energy, dreams, and joie de vivre into the night, while explaining to them what the new school would be all about, and what the history of the old school was – we could have a true hit on our hands – and the school could raise a lot of money.
Another fun thing we added was the first animated visual fx of what the new school would look like. Adding in this Hollywood special fx really got people excited as they could finally “see” what it was all about.
The video was used for two years and helped raise nearly a half million on each of the nights.
They exhibited the film for open auction bidding and directly after just the film, both times, over $100k was brought in alone.
